SIUH/NYSNA Negotiation Update – April 22, 2021
Yesterday, Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) and the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) met virtually for our 12th negotiation session.
The parties engaged in further discussion revolving around the hospital’s staffing counterproposal that was presented at the last session. We anticipate receiving NYSNA’s formal response at our next session on May 4.
In addition, SIUH dedicated a portion of yesterday’s session to presenting Northwell’s clinical ladder program. It affords registered nurses the opportunity to receive financial compensation as they evolve their nursing practice, cultivate their leadership potential, and experience meaningful professional development. Many other Northwell hospitals already extend this innovative incentive program to their nurses, and we’re excited about the prospect of rolling it out here at SIUH.
